Kids of the 90s rejoice! It looks like there could be a Justin Timberlake/Britney Spears duet in the works. Justin reacted this week to the news that his former flame would be interested in a musical collaboration, and he was totally on board with the idea.
"She did? Sure! Absolutely, absolutely," he told E! News at the Toronto International Film Festival, revealing that the reason he hadn't already heard about Britney's comments was, "I have a 17-month-old son, so I don't get the headline news." He added: "I apologise for not being in the know! I'm accessible, give us a call!"
Justin Timberlake has said he is "absolutely" open to a collaboration with Britney Spears
It comes after Britney was asked to reveal her dream collaborators in a fan Q&A for Most Requested Live with Romeo last month, and she listed her ex.
"Aerosmith seems really good and bright. He's a genius I think. He's very rock n' roll. He sings from his soul," she began. "Gwen Stefani, I think she's great. Justin Timberlake is very good…"
Understandably, the news caused a bit of a frenzy amongst pop fans, and even got the backing of Justin's former 'NSync bandmate Lance Bass. "I would love to see that happen, of course," he told E! at the MTV Video Music Awards. "I think everyone in the world wants to see them together again in any capacity. It's like everyone's childhood dream."
The former couple dated from 1999 until 2002
He added: "I think it would be an incredible collaboration. I would want it to be a dance number, though. I want them to both – kinda like that Michael-Janet Jackson type thing, would be incredible."
Justin and Britney were one of the world's most famous celebrity couples before they split in 2002 after three years of dating.
After a high-profile romance with actress Cameron Diaz, Justin went on to marry Jessica Biel in October 2012, and in April 2015 the couple welcomed their son Silas Randall Timberlake.
Britney is also a proud parent to her sons Sean, 11, and ten-year-old Jayden, from her marriage to Kevin Federline.
