Time to set the record straight. Marion Cotillard, who co-stars with Brad Pitt in the upcoming spy thriller Allied, has confirmed that she is pregnant.
But the 40-year-old actress took to Instagram on Wednesday night to categorically deny the rumours that have been swirling since news broke of Angelina Jolie and Brad’s divorce on Tuesday - insisting she has nothing to do with the couple's split.
"This is going to be my first and only reaction to the whirlwind news that broke 24 hours ago and that I was swept up into," the French actress wrote. "I am not used to commenting on things like this nor taking them seriously but as this situation is spiralling and affecting people I love, I have to speak up.
"Firstly, many years ago, I met the man of my life, father of our son and of the baby we are expecting," she went on. "He is my love, my best friend, the only one that I need. Secondly to those who have indicated that I am devastated, I am very well thank you.
"This crafted conversation isn't distressing. And to all the media and the haters who are quick to pass judgment, I sincerely wish you a swift recovery," she went on. "Finally, I do very much wish that Angelina and Brad, both whom I deeply respect, will find peace in this very tumultuous moment. With all my love Marion."
As HELLO! online reported previously, shortly after news of an Angelina and Brad divorce broke on Tuesday, the actresses lawyer, Robert Offer, made a statement, confirming his client had filed for "dissolution of marriage" the day before. He added that the "decision was made for the health of the family".
Brad than released his own statement, saying that his focus is on the six children he shares with his estranged wife.
"I am very saddened by this, but what matters most now is the wellbeing of our kids," he said. "I kindly ask the press to give them the space they deserve during this challenging time."
According to court documents obtained by TMZ, Angelina asked for physical custody of the couple's six children – Maddox, Pax, Zahara, Shiloh, Vivienne, and Knox.
