Samuel L. Jackson makes surprising comments about Brad and Angelina's split

September 22, 2016

Samuel L. Jackson did not hold back when he was asked about Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie's split this week. "It's life!" he said during an appearance on Good Morning Britain on Thursday. "People carry on and people do what they do."

He then added: "There's a huge segment of America that still think what he did to Jennifer Aniston was just wrong and are overjoyed that the wicked witch lost her husband. There's another segment that think it is sad and there's a dissolution of another family. I don’t know why it's everybody's business, or why people care anyway."

It was announced on Tuesday that Brad and Angelina were ending their marriage, with the actress citing irreconcilable differences in her divorce papers and seeking physical custody of their six children.

Their split came as a big shock – the pair were seen as Hollywood's golden couple, and, perhaps inevitably, there has been a great deal of speculation as to the circumstances surrounding their divorce.

On Thursday, French actress Marion Cotillard was forced to address rumours that she had played a part in the couple's separation.

In an Instagram post, the 40-year-old categorically denied that she had been romantically involved with her Allied co-star Brad, and revealed that she was in fact expecting her second child with long-term partner Guillaume Canet. "Many years ago, I met the man of my life," she said. "He is my love, my best friend, the only one that I need."

She concluded her post by writing: "Finally, I do very much wish that Angelina and Brad, both of whom I deeply respect, will find peace in the very tumultuous moment. With all my love, Marion."

It was Angelina's attorney Robert Offer who officially confirmed on Tuesday that the star had filed for divorce. "This decision was made for the health of the family," he said. "She will not be commenting, and asks that the family be given its privacy at this time."

A short while later, Brad broke his silence. "I am very saddened by this, but what matters most now is the well-being of our kids," he said in a statement to People. "I kindly ask the press to give them the space they deserve during this challenging time."
