Since confirming the end of her romance with Strictly Come Dancing's Giovanni Pernice, actress Georgia May Foote has fully immersed herself into work.

The 25-year-old, who was partnered up with the Italian dancer on last year's series, revealed the best way to nurse her heartache was to "keep busy" and "surround herself with her family".

"I’m quite a private person so I just get on with life, I’ve always said that my job is the most important thing in my life and my family," she told Belfast Live. "My family are happy and healthy and I’m working on a great show.

"I’ve literally just thrown myself into it completely. It’s been such a great experience and I’m lucky that I’ve got it right now, I think, to do - to keep me busy. I just kind of get on with life, I don’t really listen [to what’s being said]."

Georgia and Giovanni confirmed they called time on their romance at the end of August, issuing a joint statement on Titter that said they were moving forward as "friends".

"It is with great sadness we have decided to split up," it read. "There is nobody else involved. Although it was not an easy decision to make sometimes you realize that it is better to be friends and this is one of those times.

"We both have very busy work schedules for the rest of the year so we are both going to focus on our upcoming work projects and we wish each other well for the future."

Georgia has since taken to Twitter to share a message of support for Giovanni and his new celebrity partner, Laura Whitmore, in response to reports she is concerned they might strike up a romance during their time on the show.

"Good luck to all the @bbastrictly 2016 cast and crew on their launch show tonight! Sending all my love! I'm sure it's going to be incredible," she wrote. "And I would just like to wish @thewhitmore and @pernicegiovann1 good luck. Please don't believe the c*** you read. She's a beautiful person."
