Justin Theroux has hailed his wife Jennifer Aniston, praising her for never faltering when faced with lots of scrutiny and pressure.

The 45-year-old's comment comes soon after the drama surrounding the Friends star's ex-husband Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie's divorce was announced.

When asked whether he minds being called "Mr Jennifer Aniston", the American director and screenwriter revealed it was in fact an "honour" to be addressed as that.

Justin Theroux has hailed his wife Jennifer Aniston in a new interview

"It doesn't really get under my skin," he said in a new interview with The Sunday Times. "It's just one of those things that's a shorthand for describing who I am."

"Many people would have crumbled under some of the stresses that have been put on her," he added. "I'm very proud of her for that, for the way she handles herself. So in a weird way it's an honour to stand behind her. Truly, in that sense, she's amazing."

Jennifer and Brad were famously married for five years before divorcing in 2005, the same year he was filming Mr & Mrs Smith with Angelina.

And although Jennifer has not commented on Brad's split from Angelina, her husband Justin gave a surprisingly honest response when quizzed about his thoughts.
