He may play Albert Square's biggest hardman, but Steve McFadden decided to show his fans a completely different side to him when he decided to sing Sia's hit song, Cheap Thrills.

Taking part in a fun skit with Capital Birmingham on Wednesday, the EastEnders stalwart - who is famed for playing Walford favourite Phil Mitchell - used his strong cockney vocals to sing the lyrics.

One line included the words: "Gotta paint my nails and put my high heels on."

However, the 57-year-old actor decided to tweak the version, which was aptly named "Cheap Phils".

Fans were quick to respond with one saying, "best thing I've seen in a while" while another added, "can i listen to this again?"

It's been a busy few days for the soap star after he was spotted partying like a fresher at the University of Plymouth. He happily posed for various photographs with students and at one point he even hit the decks.

On Monday, Steve was also presented with the Best Actor gong at this year's Inside Soap Awards for his portrayal of Phil - which he has played for over 27 years.

Despite the recent glory and the huge shakeup within the cast, the British actor revealed his fears over his character's longevity on the BBC One soap.

"I do know that actors get concerned about the future and want to know what's happening six months in advance," he told RadioTimes.com.

"I've always opened my arms to the nature of soaps - you don't know the end until you get to the end," he added. "I'm hoping it's not the end for Phil. I'm hoping he's going to stay sober and that all goes well. Although, of course, happy endings are only ever temporary in soaps."
