Cheryl has taken to Instagram to urge people to be kind, as speculation about a possible pregnancy continues to escalate. The 33-year-old singer shared a poignant post on social media in honour of World Mental Health Day this week, showing a tattooed hand holding a piece of paper which reads: "If the words you spoke appeared on your skin… would you still be beautiful?"

Writing alongside the photo, the star added: "Be kind to others and to yourself. #worldmentalhealthday."

The words no doubt resonated with Cheryl. She recently had to disable comments on an Instagram selfie after being bombarded with questions about the baby rumours, and many of her followers spoke out to condemn the speculation and "unnecessary hate" that was being posted on her page.

Cheryl and Liam Payne went public with their romance in February

Neither Cheryl nor boyfriend Liam Payne, 23, have so far commented on the baby reports. The couple, who went public with their romance in February, made a rare public appearance together on Monday as they stepped out for a date night in London – but the photos further fuelled the fire, with fans convinced they could see a bump showing through Cheryl's loose clothing.

"Ahhhh these new pictures of Cheryl. I'm starting to believe more and more she is preggers. She'd be an amazing mum," one wrote, adding: "If it's a bump then it is cute already." Another commented: "I really hope Cheryl Cole is pregnant she deserves that happiness! Just hurry up and announce it."

Meanwhile, bookmakers have confirmed they have suspended betting on a baby announcement from Cheryl and Liam following her appearance at Paris Fashion Week at the start of October.

"After being flooded with bets over the last 48 hours on Cheryl announcing she is pregnant before the year is out, we have decided to pull the plug on this market for now as the sheer intensity of this gamble suggests an announcement could be imminent," Coral's John Hill said.
