"After much soul searching and consideration we have made the decision to separate as a couple," they told PEOPLE in a joint statement. "As devoted parents, our first priority remains raising our children together with enduring love, respect and friendship."
Tobey and jewellery designer Jennifer first met in 2003, when the actor was filming Seabiscuit – and Jennifer has since revealed that the Spiderman actor asked her to be his girlfriend in a romantic letter he penned to the American beauty.

In April 2006 the couple shared the happy news that they were engaged. It proved to be a particularly exciting year for the pair, who welcomed daughter Ruby just a few months later.
In 2007, they tied the knot in an intimate wedding ceremony in Kona, Hawaii, which was attended by their closest family and friends. Two years later, their adorable son Otis was born.

Jennifer has previously opened up about her family life, explaining that they were her "motivation behind everything I do."
"My family, My husband, My children, My friends, I feel like I am a very lucky girl surrounded by a lot of love," she told The Manifestation.
She later added: "Family is the motivation behind everything I do. It’s the reason I work, the reason I travel (or don't), and the motivation behind my daily choices. I want my children to grow up knowing that I always put my family first."
