They have been together for 12 years, and are parents to two boys – but Kirstie Allsopp and partner Ben Anderson have no plans to tie the knot anytime soon. The 45-year-old TV star opened up about her longterm relationship with property developer Ben this week, and revealed why the pair have decided not to make it official.

"Ben has been married previously and so initially is was he who was reluctant to do it," Kirstie told the Daily Mail's Sebastian Shakespeare. "And then I was reluctant to get married because I just think: 'If it ain't broke, don't fix it.'"

She continued: "There does seem to be a gripping fascination with the fact I'm not married to Ben. But how many people are married nowadays? Something like 50 per cent of children are born out of wedlock. I've always said the same thing: there is every likelihood what one day we'll get married, if only for practical reasons. But we are very happy as we are."

Kirstie and Ben, 54, live together in Notting Hill with their boys, Bay, nine, and seven-year-old Oscar. Ben also has two teenage sons, Hal and Orion, from his first marriage, who live with them half the time.

Location, Location, Location star Kirstie previously opened up about her "busy" family life in an interview with Good Housekeeping back in October 2013, and admitted that she hadn't totally ruled out having more children.

"There are four boys in my life and it's quite busy," she said. "I would love another baby, but the reality of that and its impact on the family is still something I am considering. I would love to have another 10 babies, but it has to be a decision made by all of us."
