It's almost coming up to a year since Mark Zuckerberg and his wife Priscilla Chan welcomed their first child together. And the Facebook founder wasted no time in posting another milestone in their daughter Max's life - the moment she revealed her first word.

In a sweet picture, which he shared on Wednesday, 10-month-old Max could be seen petting the family's little pup at their home in Palo Alto.

"Max loves Beast. Her first word: dog," he simply captioned the image.

Mark Zuckerberg shared another milestone in his daughter Max's life on Wednesday

Dressed in a padded teal hoodie, Max is seen stroking Beast's fluffy white fur while holding a plastic toy in her other hand.

Mark and Priscilla welcomed their baby daughter Max - named Maxima Chan Zuckerberg - in December last year, and simultaneously announced their plans to donate their wealth in order to improve the world their daughter grows up in.

They have pledged to give away 99 per cent of their $46billion Facebook stock to charity in her honour. Mark announced their plans in a touching open letter to their daughter, posted on 1 December.

"Your mother and I don't yet have the words to describe the hope you give us for the future," it read. "Your new life is full of promise and we hope you will be happy and healthy so you can explore it fully. You've already given us a reason to reflect on the world we hope you live in…

"Max, we love you and feel a great responsibility to leave the world a better place for you and all children. We wish you a life filled with the same love, hope and joy you give us. We can't wait to see what you bring to this world."
