Chris Hemsworth has responded to those rumours that his marriage to Elsa Pataky is on the rocks in the best possible way.

The 33-year-old actor shut down the reports by sharing an idyllic photo with his wife, and adding a hilarious caption.

Posing aboard a boat and looking out to sea, Chris wrote on Instagram: "Looking for a new wife according to @womansdayaus and other misleading outlets! Honey you still love me right?! @elsapatakyconfidential #thanksfortheheadsup."

"Looking for a new wife," Chris joked

"Hahahaha, that's really funny!" commented one follower, while another joked: "Yeh u guys look sooo miserable together."

Elsa similarly responded by posting a photo of the lovebirds cuddling up with their pet dog, writing: "Always and forever!!"

Chris and Elsa, 40, tied the knot in 2010. The couple are the proud parents to three children – India, four, and two-year-old twins Tristan and Sasha.

Reports, however, surfaced over the weekend claiming that their marriage was in trouble.

"Sources say the pair could be the next celebrity couple to call time on their marriage, and with their relationship on the rocks, insiders say Chris and Elsa are almost living separate lives," Australia's Woman's Day reported, wondering if this would be "Hollywood's next big split".

The couple have three children together

The report went on to say that a "close friend" suspected something was awry when Madrid-born Elsa took her three children to Spain last month, to see her family. Chris, meanwhile, stayed in Australia to film Thor: Ragnarok.

Chris has never been shy about expressing his love for his stunning wife. The actor proposed just months after meeting Elsa, revealing on Good Morning Britain: "It did happen quick and it just felt right, just, it made sense. There was no great plan to any of it to be honest, we were on holiday and we said 'why don't we get married too?' and then the next minute..."
