Professor Green has given a revealing insight into the breakdown of his marriage to Millie Mackintosh in his brand new single, One Eye on the Door. This week, the singer – real name Stephen Manderson – opened up about the track in an interview with the Sun, and insisted that he isn’t worried about his ex-wife hearing the lyrics, despite the subject matter.

"I think she'll probably say, 'Well, at least he is being honest about that. That definitely happened once or twice,'" he said of Millie.

"It's a song that was probably written after a time I got in trouble… the whole song is just about then you say, 'Yeah. I'll be home early, I promise', then you mates go, 'Come on, stay for one more drink.'

"Then one more drinks turns into someone's kitchen, staying up until God knows what hour putting the world to rights. Then sunlight starts to appear through the curtains and you realise you have to face the music.

The couple tied the knot in September 2013

"You turn on your phone and have a panic attack about the text messages and missed calls. Then you go back with your tail between your legs, saying, 'I'm really sorry, I won't do it again'…. Until next week."

The lyrics on the single include: "I'll probably get kicked out of my house, 'til I come back with a brand new Chanel bag and shoes but I refuse to wave a white towel."

In another line, he raps: "I don't know where the time went. Where's my phone?... 61 missed calls. A divorce is on the cards if I don't split…"

They announced their split in February, after two years of marriage

The 32-year-old musician and Millie were married at Babington House in Somerset on 13 September 2013, but they went their separate ways at the start of this year – Millie is now dating her ex-boyfriend Hugo Taylor.

Despite the end of their marriage, the star said he has no hard feelings towards his ex. "Ultimately what happened was two people got married – not to get divorced – and it didn't work, which is just really sad," he said.

"That's the truth of it. Therefore, I would rather just move forward. No resentment."
