Michael Bublé's three-year-old son Noah is battling liver cancer, according to an Argentinian magazine. Daniela Lopilato – the sister of Michael's wife Luisana Lopilato – confirmed the diagnosis to Gente, and revealed that Noah is already undergoing chemotherapy in his fight against the disease.

"If God wanted it to be discovered that way, it's because he wants to save Noah," Daniela said. "Cancer is a horrible illness, but we have faith in Noah being able to overcome this. We know he will.

"The time to start a long and very difficult treatment has come but it's got to be done. They say that children are often strong enough to withstand chemotherapy… and my nephew is a warrior."

According to the publication, Noah was diagnosed on 1 November when medics carried out a liver biopsy, following an examination at a clinic in Buenos Aires. It’s understood that his chemotherapy treatment will last four months.

Michael, 41, and Luisana, 29, announced the news of Noah's health battle in a statement released on Friday. "We are devastated about the recent cancer diagnosis of our oldest son Noah who is currently undergoing treatment in the US," it read.

"We have always been very vocal about the importance of family and the love we have for our children. Luisana and I have put our careers in order to devote all our time and attention to helping Noah get well.

"At this difficult time, we ask only for your prayers and respect for our privacy. We have a long journey in front of is and hope that with the support of family, friends and fans around the world, we will win this battle, God willing."

On Tuesday, it was confirmed that the Canadian singer has pulled out of the BBC Music Awards on 12 December – one of the first commitment in his diary for the upcoming weeks.

"We send Michael and his family our very best wishes," BBC Music director Bob Shennan said.

Michael is also due to host the Brit Awards in London on 22 February and the Canadian equivalent, the Juno Awards, in Ottawa on 2 April. So far, no official announcement has been made about these appearances.
