Brad Pitt has returned to the spotlight. The actor, who has been keeping a low profile since his split from Angelina Jolie in September, hit the red carpet at the premiere of his new film, Allied, in LA on Wednesday night.

Brad, 52, appeared to be in good spirits at the event, happily posing for photographs and signing autographs for delighted fans. "It's really sweet, everyone has been really kind out here," he told E! News. "It's really nice to have all the support."

Brad, dressed in a dark suit, was joined at the premiere by his pregnant co-star Marion Cotillard, who looked radiant in a midnight blue dress showing just a hint of her baby bump. His appearance came just 24 hours after he attended a private viewing of Moonlight with Julia Roberts – but this was Brad's first high-profile event since the end of his marriage.

It was confirmed by multiple news outlets on Wednesday that Brad has been cleared by the Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services after being investigated for alleged child abuse (a department spokesman said the agency could not confirm it investigated Pitt.)

But social workers had reportedly been examining an incident between Pitt and Maddox on a private jet; Angelina filed for divorce the day after the incident, citing irreconcilable differences.

In response to the news, Angelina's rep told Us Weekly: "The job of the DCFS is to make sure the children are in a safe and secure situation. As we said earlier this week, childcare professionals encouraged a legal agreement accepted and signed by both sides that was in the best interest of the children.

"Angelina said from the beginning that she felt she had to take action for the health of the family and is relieved that after their 8-week involvement, the DCFS is now satisfied the safeguards are put in place that will allow the children to heal."

As HELLO! Online previously reported, Angelina's spokesperson issued a statement on Monday stating that the former couple had reached a legal agreement regarding the custody of their six children: Maddox, 15, Pax, 12, Zahara, 11, Shiloh, 10, and eight-year-old twins Knox and Vivienne.

However, sources close to the situation maintain that the pair have not reached any new agreement, and that Brad still plans to push for joint custody – as he stated in his response to Angelina's divorce petition on 4 November.
