Soap star Belinda Owusu – who plays Libby Fox in EastEnders – has pleaded for witnesses to come forward following the death of her brother last month. Ziggy Worrell-Owusu, 19, was stabbed to death in the early hours of the morning on 27 October while attending a party at a club in east London. It is thought he was trying to break up a fight at the time.

Speaking to the Evening Standard, heartbroken Belinda said: "My brother went along with some friends to celebrate his birthday and this just happened. He was not involved in any fighting but we know there were lots of different groups of friends there and not everyone knew each other.

"Someone decided they were going to bring a weapon in. It is hard to imagine anyone doing that, let alone deciding to do this to someone."

She continued: "We are not completely sure if it was their intention to hurt him or if he was just in the wrong place at the wrong time, but he was not fighting.

"There were lots of arguments going on that night but Ziggy was a good kid. If he saw someone in trouble he would help them."

Ziggy sadly died in hospital after being treated by paramedics at the scene. A post-mortem confirmed he had died as a result of a stab wound.

"He was very kind, had a good heart, he always had nice things to say, he always gave you a hug," Belinda shared. "He had just started out, he had a 19th birthday and he was just starting to become and adult, and suddenly it's all gone. It is still a shock."

The Hackney-born actress told the newspaper that the cast and crew at EastEnders had been "really supportive" following the tragedy, adding: "They have been helping in every way they can, everyone has been reaching out." She also confirmed that she would start filming for the soap again this week. (Belinda was a regular character on the soap between 2006 and 2010. After a four year break, she briefly returned in 2014, and has been appearing intermittently ever since.)

Appealing for witnesses to come forward, Belinda said her family had been utterly devastated by Ziggy's death. "Everyone has changed," she revealed. "We just want to know what happened and why it happened so we can have some closure.

"We want to ask people who were there, or who knows someone who was there, to come forward to help with the investigation to help the police identify the person who did this."
