For 40 years, it has been a closely guarded secret – but now Carrie Fisher is ready to share it with the world. The star has revealed that she had a whirlwind three-month affair with Harrison Ford while filming the original Star Wars in London in 1976. Carrie was 19 at the time, while Harrison was then a 33-year-old married father-of-two.
"It was so intense," she told People of the romance. "It was Han and Leia during the week, and Carrie and Harrison during the weekend."
Carrie Fisher has revealed she had a three-month affair with Harrison Ford during filming for Star Wars
Carrie reveals details of the affair in her new book, The Princess Diarist, which is described as an "intimate, hilarious and revealing recollection of what happened behind the scenes" on the first Star Wars movie.
In it, she admits she was racked with self-doubt after the pair spent their first night together. "I looked over at Harrison. A hero's face – a few strands of hair fell over his noble, slightly furrowed brow," the 60-year-old writes. "How could you ask such a shining specimen of a man to be satisfied with the likes of me?
"I was so inexperienced, but I trusted something about him," she continues. "He was kind."
The pair recently reprised their iconic roles for Star Wars: The Force Awakens
The actress also admits that she tried "relentlessly" to make Harrison fall in love with her, and would fantasise about him giving her an engagement ring inscribed with 'Carrison'.
Harrison, 74, who is now married to Calista Flockhart, has declined to comment, but it's been revealed that he did receive a draft copy of the memoir before publication. Both he and Carrie recently reprised their iconic Star Wars roles for last year's blockbuster Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
