Ricky Martin can always rely on his eight-year-old twins to keep his feet firmly on the ground. The Livin' la Vida Loca star has revealed that, up until recently, his sons Matteo and Valentino had absolutely no idea that they had a famous father. In a recent interview with People, Ricky shared the sweet moment his boys realised who he was.

Twins Matteo and Valentino had no idea of their dad's worldwide fame
"One day, when I thought that they were big enough, I said, 'Go to the front of the house,' and they see the lights and the whole spectacle. When the show was over, they came to me and said, 'Papi, you're Ricky Martin'. I said 'I'm not Ricky Martin, I'm your father'. They said, 'No, no, no, you're Ricky Martin,' and so it changed."
The newly-engaged singer, who is set to marry his partner of one year, artist Jwan Yosef, also revealed that the twins are not afraid to let him know what they think of his music, no matter how successful he might be.

"You don't know the level of criticism I get from my kids. They go, ‘Dad, that movement I don't like. Dad, that song, you gotta change it,' and they bring good points," he said.
Ricky, 44, became a father in 2008, with the help of a surrogate mother. The proud dad brings his twins with him whenever he is on tour, but they have always stayed backstage, unaware of the thousands of people he would be singing to.
Despite accompanying their dad on tour, the twins were unaware of the huge crowds listening to him perform
"They're always with me and always travelling and on the road with me, but I always kept them backstage. Their perception of my job was to see me from the side singing, but they didn't know to what."
With the twins' new-found knowledge of their dads stardom, they will no doubt be excited by the news that he will be doing a concert residency in Las Vegas from April next year. The star will be following in the footsteps of the likes of Elton John and Celine Dion.
