Cheryl has publicly reached out to Kanye West following the news of his hospitalisation. The 33-year-old star took to Twitter on Tuesday evening to share a heartfelt message for the rapper. "It's not nice to hear of anybody struggling with their mental health," Cheryl wrote. "Wishing Kanye a speedy and healthy recovery."

Cheryl has known Kanye's wife Kim Kardashian for some time now; they struck up a cyber friendship at the start of 2013 and spoke of their mutual admiration for one another, before posing for a selfie together at a Kanye concert in LA in October of the same year.

Cheryl's thoughtful message came hours after it was revealed that Kanye had been hospitalised for exhaustion, having already cancelled the rest of his Saint Pablo tour. A source close to the star confirmed: "He is exhausted and currently dealing with sleep deprivation. He went to hospital at will under the advice of his physician. He is fine." The insider added that, contrary to some reports, Kanye "was not restrained" and that "he went freely".

Fans have become increasingly concerned by Kanye's behaviour in recent weeks; he abandoned a Sacramento performance on Saturday night after just three songs before launching into a lengthy rant, criticising Jay Z and Beyoncé, Mark Zuckerberg and Hillary Clinton.

Kim, meanwhile, had been scheduled to appear at the 2016 Angel Ball in New York – honouring her late father Robert Kardashian – on Monday night, but instead rushed back to LA to be by her husband's side. It would have been her first public appearance since being robbed at gunpoint in Paris.

A source has now confirmed to People that Kim and Kanye's relationship has been under some considerable strain recently, revealing: "The last few months have been difficult for their marriage. They bicker a lot and things are not great."

The insider also said that Kanye has been "very difficult", "exhausted and overwhelmed", adding that Kim has not been "thrilled" and appears to be "less patient" with Kanye than in the past.

That said, she did rush to be by his side on Monday night. "[It] was a huge deal for her returning to the spotlight," the source said. "She had been so excited about attending the ball with her mum and sisters, but as soon as she landed she turned right back around to be by Kanye's side. She had to go be with his as soon as possible."
