Brad Pitt will not be charged with any crime following an investigation into allegations of a dispute with one of his children aboard a private flight, the FBI has confirmed. On Tuesday, the Federal Bureau of Investigation released a statement that read: "In response to allegations made following a flight… carrying Mr Brad Pitt and his children, the FBI has conducted a review of the circumstances and will not pursue further investigation. No charges have been filed in this matter."

Brad Pitt has been cleared by the FBI following an investigation into the alleged plane incident

In September, the FBI had announced it was gathering facts to "evaluate whether an investigation at a federal level will be pursued". An inquiry into whether 52-year-old Brad was abusive was also carried out by the Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS). That inquiry was closed earlier this month, with no finding of wrongdoing by the star.

At the time, a representative for Angelina Jolie said she was "relieved" that the DCFS investigation was over. "Angelina said from the beginning that she felt she had to take action for the health of the family and is relieved that after their eight-week involvement, the DCFS is now satisfied the safeguards are put in place that will allow the children to heal," the statement read.

Brad and Angelina – who announced their split in September – remain in the midst of a complicated custody battle for their six children; Maddox, 15, Pax, 12, Zahara, 11, Shiloh, ten, and eight-year-old twins Knox and Vivienne. The actress has requested sole physical custody with visitation rights for Brad, who in turn filed for joint custody in his divorce papers.

The children have been living with Angelina for the past several weeks – per a temporary recommendation by the DCFS – with supervised visits for Brad.
