Mariah Carey has opened up about her split from fiancé James Packer, admitting it is still "difficult to talk about". Nonetheless the We Belong Together singer said she was "doing well" in light of the break-up, which happened while they were on holiday in Greece in September.
Speaking during an appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show on Wednesday, host Ellen said: "You were engaged and you were trying on wedding dresses in the docu-series. We see the behind the scenes of that, which is pretty personal. And now, you're not together anymore."

"Now it's a whole friggin' thing," Mariah replied.
When asked how she was doing, the mum-of-two added: "I think I'm doing well. How are you?"
After Ellen said she was "great", Mariah continued: "No I'm actually… Everything happens for a reason. Things are the way they are."

However Mariah didn't want to discuss the matter further, turning the host's attention away to the Christmas decorations on set.
"It's kind of difficult to talk about it at the moment," Mariah said. "So, I'm just going to compliment you on these decorations once again because they are fabulous, and I am here, among them."
It first emerged in October that Mariah's engagement to Australian mogul James had been called off. Mariah has continued to wear the 35-carat diamond engagement ring James presented her with, but it was noticeably absent during her appearance on the show.

Mariah and James first met at the premiere of Hercules in 2014 and went public with their romance the following June. James proposed to the singer in her hometown of New York in January, with Mariah previously telling E! News that she couldn't wait to get married.
"He's an exceptional person, and really… it gets more romantic by the day," she said. "So, it's very sweet."
