It's been a decade since celebrity wildlife expert Steve Irwin lost his life, but his teenage daughter Bindi is ensuring that his legacy lives on. Over the weekend, at the Steve Irwin Gala Dinner in Brisbane, the 18-year-old paid a loving tribute to her father by sharing a sweet family photo on Instagram.

Alongside the image, which was posted on the Australia Zoo's Wildlife Warrior account, she wrote in the caption: "As the #SteveIrwinGala comes to an end this year we reflect on the beautiful memories we have of the ultimate Wildlife Warrior, my Dad, Steve Irwin. His legacy will live on forever."

The gala was held in honour of Steve, who was killed by a stingray in 2006. The family picture shows the popular television personality looking happy with his arms wrapped around his daughter Bindi, and sat next to his wife Terri and their son Robert. Since the global star's death, his wife has been committed to keeping the Crocodile Hunter's legacy alive through his conservation work with Australia Zoo, and by raising their children.

Bindi, meanwhile, has gone on to star in her own animal programmes and she also won the 2015 series of Dancing With The Stars. "Everyday that we put on our khakis it's like we get a little bit of dad back and I think that's really special," the young TV star recently revealed on Australian breakfast show, The Today Show. "We're really lucky that his spirit and his heart lives on here at Australia Zoo, in each every one of us."

"I'm keen to do everything he did," added her brother Robert, who turns 13 this year. "My dad was the original Wildlife Warrior. He was the most incredible wildlife conservationist and every single day we [his family] strive to continue his legacy, we get to carry on where he left off."

Earlier on in the week, their mother took to her Twitter page to share a heartfelt message. As she celebrated Thanksgiving, the 52-year-old told her followers that she was "grateful" for the 14 years she had with her husband. "Thankful. 14 years of adventure and two beautiful children. Thank you to all @wildwarriors keeping Steve's legacy alive. #Thanksgiving," she said.
