Kirk Douglas turned 100 years old on December 9 - and made sure that his milestone birthday was celebrated in true Hollywood fashion. Kirk's famous A list family and friends turned up to the Beverly Hills Hotel celebrate the special day, including son, Michael Douglas and daughter-in-law Catherine Zeta-Jones, who were joined by their children, Dylan, 16 and Carys, 13. Also in attendance were Steven Spielberg, Arthur Cohn and Jeffrey Katzenberg - the CEO of DreamWorks Animation.

The party kicked off at 2.30pm, where over 100 guests sat around tables named after some of Kirk's favourite films. The Douglas family sat around 'Lonely Are the Brave', which the actor stared in back in 1962.
Guests later tucked into an extravagant chocolate cake that was cut by Catherine Zeta - Jones, complete with an edible, gold bust of Kirk's face.

The Chicago star took to Instagram to create a sweet slideshow of her father-in-law throughout the years. Titled 'Happy Birthday Kirk, 100 years old today love you Pappy', pictures included a young Kirk in Spartacus, along with never before seen home videos of the star dancing in his garden in a tracksuit and pulling silly faces with his grandson, Dylan. The footage then cut to a clip of Dylan and Carys play fighting, captioned ' Spartacus grandchildren in training'.
Michael Douglas led the speeches in celebration of his father, telling the guests: “I owe a lot of my career and success to him.” Giving an insight into family life in the Douglas household, he continued: "“He is always asking about what kind of father he was. Dad, you are an amazing, amazing father.”
The star also made a special mention of his step mum, Anne, 97 - who has been married to Kirk since 1954.
“She was never the wicked stepmother. My father wouldn’t be sitting here if it wasn’t for Anne,” he said.

Anne was also full of praise for her stepson. The actress made sure to thank him in her own speech for doing “Such wonderful things at a time he needs them most.”
Proving that his sense of humour was still very much in tact, Kirk joked in his own speech about the decision for Michael to lead the speeches out of all three of his sons, saying: “My three boys got together and they took a vote and they decided that Michael would be the host because, after all, he has the most money.”
Kirk's party wouldn't have been complete without a celebration drink, and the Spartacus actor was handed a generous glass of vodka from his cardiologist, Dr. PK Shah, something he had been promised many years ago when he was forbidden to drink any alcohol.
