Despite going their separate ways 13 years ago, there's no denying Kate Beckinsale and Michael Sheen have remained close. This week, the couple were overcome with emotion as they celebrated their 17-year-old daughter Lily getting into college.
Taking to her Instagram page on Friday, the Hollywood actress revealed her delight as she shared the happy news with her followers. "The appropriate fatherly response when you find out your girl got into college: burst into tears, drop everything, rush over and pick up everyone even remotely involved. @lily_beckinsale we are so unbelievably proud of you. Fly fly fly," she wrote.
The adorable pictures sees the friendly exes embrace with Kate straddling the Welsh star before he picks up Lily in his arms. Clearly pleased with her daughter's academic achievements, the 43-year-old could not wait to tell the world. Fans were quick to heap praise, with one commenting: "Co-parenting at its absolute finest! Congrats to all!" Another shared: "Can't pay for moments like that. Well done."
Kate, 43, and Michael 47, ended their eight-year relationship in 2003 when Lily was aged four. The Midnight in Paris actor is now in a relationship comedic actress Sarah Silverman. Speaking about their friendship in May, Kate told the Telegraph: "We're very lucky. I spent nearly 10 years of my life with Michael. I don't think I've got horrible taste and I really value the friendship that I have with him, and the fact that he is Lily's dad."
