Actress Zsa Zsa Gabor has died after suffering a heart attack at the age of 99, her husband, Frederic von Anhalt, has confirmed. The Hungarian-born legend passed away at home, surrounded by friends and family, Frederic told the AFP news. "Everybody was there. She didn't die alone," he revealed, tearfully.
The actress, who married at least eight times, was known for calling everybody "Dahlink" and for parading her wealth and post-divorce riches following high profile marriages to a string of men who included a Turkish diplomat, hotel heir Conrad Hilton, actor George Sanders, an oil magnate and a divorce lawyer.
Ms. Gabor appeared in more than 50 television movies and feature films including Moulin Rouge in 1952 and Lili in 1953. She also appeared on multiple television programs from talk shows to game shows from the 1950s-1990s, including a role as the evil Minerva in the 1960s TV series of Batman.
The actress had suffered ill health for years. In 2002 she spent time in hospital with head an other injuries following a car crash which left her in a wheelchair. She then suffered a stroke in 2005 and underwent multiple surgeries in the past decade, including one to unblock a carotid artery, another to treat a leg infection caused by her stroke, and a hip replacement in 2010.
In 2011 her right leg was amputated above the knee to save her life, after a leg infection could not be treated by antibiotics. She was famous for her quotes, such as, "I never hated a man enough to give him his diamonds back," and "I am a marvellous housekeeper. Every time I leave a man, I keep his house."
