Fans of George Michael have been paying tribute to the late singer, who passed away at the age of 53 on Christmas Day, by sharing stories of their experiences with the former Wham! band member, revealing him to be a hugely generous man.

Pointless co-presenter Richard Osman opened up about George helping out a woman in need during his time as the executive producer on Deal or No Deal. He tweeted: "A woman on 'Deal Or No Deal' told us she needed £15k for IVF treatment. George Michael secretly phoned the next day and gave her the £15k." Richard's tweet prompted responses from others who had their own stories about George, with one replying to the tweet: "When I worked for a big charity we had a huge donation from him after his mum died," while another added: "He gave a stranger in a cafe £25k as she was crying over debt. Told the waitress to give her the cheque after he left."

Another supporter of the star shared a BBC article revealing that George had given a free concert to NHS nurses to say thank you for looking after his late mother, while another tweeted: "George Michael worked anonymously at a homeless shelter I was volunteering at. I've never told anyone, he asked we didn't. That's who he was."
