The Chicago actress shared the photo of herself snuggled on a sofa with her husband Michael Douglas and their two children, 16-year-old son Dylan and 13-year-old daughter Carys, captioning the sweet snap: "Totally laid back." The star also posted a photo of the family's Nutcracker Christmas decorations wearing sunglasses, joking: "Cool nutcrackers" and a snap of a stunning Christmas tree while wishing her followers a happy Christmas, writing: "Merry Christmas everyone!" Fans were quick to wish the family happy holidays, with one writing: "LOVE it! What Christmas is TRULY about! Merry Christmas Douglas family!" while another added: "I love the photo. Beautiful loving family. It can't get any better!"

Catherine's family have had a busy month after celebrating Michael's dad Kirk's 100th birthday back in early December. At the time, the 47-year-old shared a slideshow of snaps, captioning the video: "Happy Birthday Kirk, 100 years old today love you Pappy." Michael also gave a speech at the celebrations, telling the guests: "I owe a lot of my career and success to him…He is always asking about what kind of father he was. Dad, you are an amazing, amazing father." The star also mentioned his step mother Anne, who has been married to Kirk since 1954. "She was never the wicked stepmother," he said. "My father wouldn't be sitting here if it wasn't for Anne." Speaking about his dad during an interview with Jonathan Ross, Michael said: "He's doing great, he's doing absolutely great… we're just trying to get the details worked out but it's turning out to be a major function."
