Robbie Williams faced criticism after his New Year's Eve performance when he was spotted cleansing his hands with gel after interacting with the crowds, and now the singer has responded in a fun tongue-in-cheek way! The 42-year-old's wife Ayda Field shared a short clip in which Robbie has recreated the infamous moment, poking fun at himself while spending some quality time with family and friends at home.

"Do you have any New Year's resolutions?" someone off-camera asks him. "Yeah, I'm going to give up smoking," replies Robbie, before being interrupted by a friend who wishes him a happy new year and shakes his hand. When they leave, Robbie reaches for nearby hand sanitiser and pulls a mock expression of disgust, poking fun at the notable moment from his New Year's Eve performance of Auld Lang Syne on the BBC.
Posting the video on her Instagram account, which Robbie later shared on his own page, Ayda highlighted that the clip was meant in jest, quipping that her husband was "wiping the slate clean". "Wiping the slate clean for 2017 @robbiewilliams #[laughing emoji] #instafun #instagood #cleanslate #familyfunday," she wrote in the accompanying caption.

No doubt the new year is already set to be exciting and jam-packed for the former Take That star, who previously announced that he will be heading off on a major stadium tour this summer. The She's the One hitmaker will be embarking on a series of concerts across Europe, kicking off in the UK with shows in London, Cardiff and Dublin before heading to Germany.
Asked about his rider during the press conference when the news was revealed, Robbie replied: "It just says no carbs, so pigs, cows, almonds, coconut milk - if I'm being daring lots of water, keep my hydrated." He also spoke in praise of his support act, synthopop duo Erasure. "Big fan of them when I was a kid, big fan of them now," he said. "They've got a huge amount of hits, they're perfect for my show."
