Bradley Walsh was the UK's highest-selling debut artist in 2016 with his breakout album, Chasing Dreams. The 56-year old host of The Chase beat the likes of Zayn Malik, and Brit Award-winning artist Jack Garratt to become the only new British act to release an album that went gold, by selling more than 100,000 copies.

Chasing Dreams was released by Sony at the end of November, and includes covers of some of Bradley's favourite songs, including Frank Sinatra's Fly Me To The Moon, and Barbra Streisand's What Kind of Fool.

It was certified gold after selling a huge 111,650 copies, and was also named the 57th best-selling album of the year.

Blossoms, one of the biggest new bands this year, came in second place with 74,155 copies, while former One Direction star Zayn sold 65,208 copies of his debut album, Mind of Mine, following its release in March.

Former Coronation Street star Bradley previously said of his music career: "I grew up listening to legends such as Sinatra, Sammy Davis Jr and Tony Bennett. From those early days, I have always been a huge fan of this style of music and now to have the opportunity to record some of the greatest songs and arrangements ever written, alongside a 54-piece orchestra and band, is absolutely thrilling."

The Chase will hoping to repeat its success at the National Television Awards on 25th January

Meanwhile, the popular presenter could have cause for further celebrations later this month, at the National Television Awards. The Chase has been nominated for Best Daytime Show and the team will be hoping to repeat last year's success by bringing home the coveted trophy.
