Ed Sheeran has been teasing fans by hinting he would be releasing new music in 2017, and he has now treated us to not one but TWO new (and very different) singles.
The star tweeted a link to his new tunes to his 16.7 million followers, writing: "Cause I’ve been away for a bit here’s two singles rather than one - Castle On The Hill & Shape Of You." He also opened up about his new singles in a statement, writing "Hello 2017! I've been working hard on the new material and I hope you can be as excited about it as I am. I really wanted to show two different sides to my music that I'm equally as passionate about and I just knew I wanted to roll with two songs at the same time. I'm absolutely buzzing to be back."
Fans were quick to discuss the Give Me Love singer's new music. One wrote: "IM SCREAMING. #CastleOnTheHill sounds like a happy, whimsical, summer dream and it makes me want to dance like a giddy teen" while another added: "Absolutely in love with @edsheeran new tunes! Super happy he's back!" The 25-year-old singer-songwriter also co-hosted the Radio One Breakfast Show on Friday morning, and opened up about his new tracks, revealing that he had originally intended to offer Shape of You to Rihanna. "It's actually a really random one. I went to write songs for other people…and we were writing this song and I was like, 'This would really work for Rihanna' then I started singing lyrics like, 'Putting Van the Man on the Jukebox' and I was like, 'Well she's not really going to sing that is he!' And then we decided halfway through we were just going to make it for me."
