Jon Voight has shared his thoughts on daughter Angelina Jolie's divorce from Brad Pitt, and revealed he is "rooting" for the former couple and their six children. "It's a difficult time and I don't like to talk about it, but of course I'm thankful for everybody's good wishes and prayers," the 78-year-old Ray Donovan actor told Us Weekly. "And I hope things work out."
Asked about Brad and Angelina's custody agreement, Jon said he remains hopeful about the future of the former couple's relationship for the sake of their children, Maddox, 15, Pax, 13, Zahara, 12, Shiloh, ten, and eight-year-old twins Knox and Vivienne.
Jon Voight has said he is rooting for Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt
"I'm rooting for them. I don't want this thing to dissolve. I'm rooting for the kids," he said. "My heart is with everybody, and my daughter, certainly, and the children."
Jon's comments come one week after Brad and Angelina issued their first joint statement since announcing their split in September. The pair confirmed that they have now reached an agreement to handle their divorce privately, adding that they will be keeping all future details of their split confidential by using a private judge.
The statement, released to HELLO! Online, read: "The parties and their counsel have signed agreements to preserve the privacy rights of their children and family by keeping all court documents confidential and engaging a private judge to make any necessary legal decisions and to facilitate the expeditious resolution of any remaining issues.
The couple announced the end of their marriage in September 2016
"The parents are committed to act as a united front to effectuate recovery and reunification."
Brad, 53, and Angelina, 41, were married for two years and together for 12 after becoming close during the filming of Mr and Mrs Smith in 2005. Angelina filed to end their marriage in September.
Custody of their six children has been the primary issue in their divorce; they currently have a voluntary temporary custody agreement in place that allows Brad supervised visits with Maddox, Pax, Zahara, Shiloh, and twins Knox and Vivienne.
