Celine will perform four dates in the UK
Celine announced the news in a bilingual video on Instagram, featuring her pianist. "Europe this summer?" he asked the mum-of-three. "Yes sir, you ready?" replied an excited Celine. "Mark your calendar because I cannot wait to have a great time so I hope you're ready!"
The news was also announced via Ticketmaster, who revealed that tickets will go on sale at 9am on Friday 3 February. In a statement Celine said: "I am so looking forward to returning to the UK and Europe this summer. These wonderful cities hold such special memories for me and I'm really excited to be coming back and seeing all my fans again."
It marks Celine's first live shows since her 2008 Taking Chances World Tour, the second highest grossing tour by a solo artist.
The singer said she was "really excited" to be going back
The singer, 48, is currently in residence in Las Vegas. She took a brief hiatus in 2014 to care for her husband René Angélil after he underwent an operation to remove a cancerous tumour. Celine returned to the stage in August 2015 but in January 2016 she cancelled her performances after René sadly passed away. The vocal powerhouse resumed her residency just weeks later at the end of February.
Celine recently marked her husband's first death anniversary on 14 January. She shared a heartbreaking tribute to her former manager, who she was married to for 21 years, by posting two videos on Facebook.
One clip showed Celine looking over family photos and reminiscing over happy moments she shared with René and their three sons, René-Charles, 16, and six-year-old twins Eddie and Nelson. "My memory loves you, it asks about you all the time. Especially today… One year later, I wish R.I.P. meant Return If Possible. Forever yours, Céline xx…" she captioned the emotional clip.
