Wednesday was a momentous day in Celine Dion's household. Her eldest child, René-Charles celebrated his 16th birthday, and to mark the occasion his proud mum shared a candid family photo with her fans. The picture, which was uploaded to her Instagram account, shows mother and son together at Christmas time, with Celine kissing her son's cheek in front of a huge Christmas tree.

In her caption, which was written in both French and English, the star said: "Time has gone by so fast. I can't believe that today you're sixteen years old. We're so proud of you. May all your dreams come true." She poignantly signed the message from both herself and her late husband René Angélil, as well as the couple’s six-year-old twins Nelson and Eddy.
Celine, 48, and René-Charles have a very special bond. He was an invaluable support to his mother following René's death in January 2016, and showed incredible strength and bravery when he delivered a touching eulogy at his father's funeral.

"Fifteen years is not a long time for a son to get to know his father. You had a busy life by we were communicating through golf, hockey, poker and smoked meat… and a lot of other wonderful food, bonding more and more as time went by," he said, per People.
"You left me now with enough good memories of you to share with my younger brothers. As they grow older, without you being around, I'll make sure to pass on what I've learned from you. You are a tough act to follow, but with your help, everything's gonna be fine. Dad, I promise you here that we are all going to live up to your standards."
