Gavin Rossdale was married to American singer Gwen Stefani for 12 years

Gavin's last serious relationship was with American singer Gwen Stefani, who is a judge on the US version of The Voice. The couple met in 1995 when both their groups – Bush and No Doubt – were on tour. After seven years of dating, they tied the knot in 2002 with a wedding in St Paul's, London and a second celebration was held in Los Angeles two weeks later. The stars went on to have sons Kingston, ten, Zuma, eight and Apollo, two, before Gwen filed for divorce last April, citing "irreconcilable differences". During their marriage, a paternity test revealed the rocker was father to model Daisy Lowe from his relationship with Pearl Lowe.

Earlier this week, Gavin opened up about his "shocking" split from Gwen. In an interview with Fabulous magazine, the musician admitted that the decision to end their 12 year marriage had not been his, but emphasised that he holds nothing against his "incredible" ex-wife. "[Divorce] was completely opposite to what I wanted," he said. "But here we are. Apart from death, I think divorce is one of the hardest, most painful things to go through." Reflecting on their relationship, he added: "We had 20 years together and that in itself is pretty incredible. It's a lifetime. It was a lovely 20 years and we have three amazing children. There were lots of positives, and with time they'll become more and more obvious."

Courtney Love claimed she had an affair with Gavin in the mid 90s

In 2010, Courtney Love claimed she had an affair with Gavin in the mid 90s. She made the surprise revelation on US shock jock Howard Stern's radio show, revealing they had "a really good time" during an eight-month fling. However, Gavin has never addressed these claims.

Gavin dated Pearl Lowe briefly in the late '80s - they are parents to Daisy Lowe

The British rocker dated fashion designer Pearl Lowe briefly in the late '80s, while she was married to fertility specialist Bronner Handwerger. In 2004, a paternity test revealed Gavin was the father of her eldest daughter, Daisy Lowe. The musician was originally made Daisy's godfather when she was born – and had even attended her parent evenings. However, after the DNA test was carried out, Gavin estranged himself from Daisy and her family. The famous father and daughter have since reunited. Pearl previously revealed Gavin refused to speak to her and Daisy after she allowed their daughter to take a DNA test in 2004.

Speaking to Easy Living magazine, the former indie singer discussed their broken relationship. "While Daisy and I are close, things haven’t always been easy," she explained. "It was a bit hairy for six months when I told her I suspected her father was the musician Gavin Rossdale. Gavin told me if Daisy, then 14, had a DNA test, he’d never speak to me again and he's kept his word. I lost him as a friend, but Daisy has a relationship with him, which is great."

The Bush frontman was in a five-year relationship with singer Marilyn in the 80s

Before he became a rock star, Gavin was in a five-year relationship with singer Marilyn (real name Peter Robinson). The pair initially denied their romance when Boy George wrote about it in his 1995 memoir, Take It Like A Man, but, Gavin later admitted he had a fling with Marilyn in the 1980s when he was just 17 years old. Speaking about their romance in Details magazine in 2010, Gavin discussed his difficulties he felt he faced. "I think at the outset there was a sort of fear - that was right at the beginning of Bush, and I didn't want it to be part of it. It felt like a cheap shot, so I was like: 'I'm not getting involved,'" he explained, before adding: "I've never wanted to appear closed about it, it's not something I've talked about really because it's always been in the glare of a tabloid world, it’s just one of those things - move on. When you're 17, I don't think there's anything strange about any form of anything – you're learning about life. It's a part of growing up – that's it, no more, no less."
