Katherine Jackson has claimed she has been the victim of years of mental abuse at the hands of her nephew and driver, Trent Lamar Jackson. The 86-year-old Jackson matriarch requested a restraining order on Wednesday claiming that Trent manipulated and intimidated her, and accessed her bank accounts without permission. The court granted a temporary order prohibiting Trent from entering Katherine's gated community, using her credit cards or coming within 100 yards of her.

According to court documents obtained by People, Katherine claims her nephew – through marriage – subjected her to years of mental abuse that has left her in a "constant state of fear and confusion". Michael Jackson's mother describes Trent as "an abusive con-man" who has manipulated her "to assume control of her finances". She also states that she tried to fire her nephew and ordered him to move out of her guest house but that he has refused.

Katherine is currently in London visiting daughter Janet Jackson – who welcomed her first child, son Eissa, on 3 January. But she is "afraid to go home with Trent there" and "fears he could physical harm her for terminating him". The paperwork continues: "Trent was supposed to be her driver, but over time he has infiltrated Mrs Jackson's business and personal affairs, even referring to himself as her 'house manager'.

"Trent has made it his business to regulate Mrs Jackson's interactions with her children – screening phone calls, not relaying messages, not allowing private visits or phone calls. Because he managed to get a key to her bedroom, he opens her door at his will with no regard to her privacy. Mrs Jackson has to hide in her closet to speak to her kids so she can speak freely." A hearing has been set for 1 March.
