Tom Brady has opened up about his mother Galynn Patricia's cancer battle, revealing the prognosis is "good". The NFL player, who won his fifth championship at Super Bowl LI on Sunday, discussed his mother's 18-month battle with the disease during an interview with WEEl 93.7 FM this week. "Mum's doing better," he said. "She's been through a lot. My dad has been through a lot. It's been a really hard year for them. Our prayers are with her. She's the best mum in the world, so it was nice to win for her, nice for her to be there."

The 39-year-old was pictured embracing his mother on the pitch shortly after his impressive game against Atlanta Falcons. "She didn't make it back to a game all season; it was so hard for them, but I just wanted her to try to get her rest," he continued. "She's been going through a lot, a lot of intensive treatment. But the prognosis is good. She's not quite through it yet, but hopefully there is some healing energy from our game. We just love her so much. Hopefully she really turns a corner. We all pray for that." Ahead of the big game on Sunday, the father-of-three shared a sweet picture of him and his father Tom Brady Sr. giving Galynn a kiss on the cheek. In the caption, he wrote: "Sandwich kiss for Mom at Picture Day!!! Go Pats!!!!"
Meanwhile, during a pre-Super Bowl conference, Tom was overcome with emotion when he was asked to name his hero. "I think that's a great question," the New England Patriots quarterback replied. "I think my dad is my hero because he is someone I look up to every day." The star added: "He was always someone who supported me in everything I did. To come home at night and bring me out, hit my ground balls and fly balls - I loved baseball growing up."
