Scarlett Johansson is both an acclaimed actress and a mother to two-year-old daughter Rose. But by her own admission, she feels like she is "barely holding it together" as a working mum. The 32-year-old star spoke candidly about her personal life as she stepped out at the amfAR Gala on Wednesday evening, her first official appearance since her split from husband Romain Dauriac. Speaking to Entertainment Tonight, Scarlett said: "I don't profess to know anything about parenting, anything more than anybody else. Being a working mum is an incredible challenge and it's an incredible gift."

She continued: "I think you always feel a little bit of guilt… If you're at work, you feel like you're missing out on those special moments with your kid. If you're with your kid, you feel like you're not giving enough to your job. It's a balance. I have a lot of huge admiration for working mums. I'm barely, barely holding it together."

The amfAR gala marked the first time that Scarlett has attended a major event since separating from her husband. While the couple called it quits last summer, they have continued to make public appearances together, and were last seen together in January at a gallery event. On Wednesday, however, Scarlett was joined on the red carpet by her mother, Melanie, and the Avengers star opened up about their close bond. "She's been incredibly inspiring for me in many, many ways, but certainly as a young girl," Scarlett – stunning in an androgynous trouser suit - said.
