Julie Chen was the first to confirm that her friend George Clooney and his wife Amal are expecting twins – but how exactly did she know? The chat show host confessed that she was told the news last month and she's been dying to spill the beans ever since. "Here's the truth of the matter," Julie told Entertainment Tonight. "My husband [Leslie Moonves] and I saw George and Amal about three weeks ago, and they casually mentioned that they were expecting twins. And we were all like, 'Is it a secret?!"
She added that George played down the news, so she in turn "didn't feel right telling anybody". Julie continued: "And then that morning that I reported on The Talk, it was in a British tabloid that it might be true or it might not be true. My producer said, 'We might not report on it,' And I'm like, 'No, it's true! It's definitely true! He said it wasn't a secret, and I've been dying to tell!'"
Julie confessed that she didn't ask George first if she could break the news. "I didn't call, but Leslie has known him for so long. He [said], 'You know what, I think it's okay.' This is news that everyone celebrates. How could you want to keep it a secret? And it's way past the 12 weeks. She's due in June!" she added. The CBS producer shared the exciting news last week during an appearance on The Talk. "Beyoncé is not the only superstar expecting twins. Congratulations are in order for George and Amal Clooney," said Julie, adding: "Now, what we did find out that no one else is reporting is that the twins are due this June."

George's friend Matt Damon, who has co-starred with him in a range of movies including Ocean's Twelve and The Monuments Men, has also spoken about the actor's baby news. He recalled the moment that George, 55, told him the news last year. Matt revealed: "He pulled me aside on set and I mean, I almost started crying. I was so happy for him. And I was like, 'How far along is she?' And he goes, 'Eight weeks.'"

Matt, a father of four, was quick to quip: "Are you out of your mind?! Don't tell anybody else! Don't tell anybody else! Don't you know the 12-week rule?' Like of course he doesn't. I was like, 'Just shut up, man.' And then four weeks later, I'm like, 'We're good right?'" to which George said, "We're good.'"

George and Amal married in September 2014 in a wedding covered by HELLO! magazine. At the time, the Money Monster star said: "My verdict on being Mr and Mrs Clooney? It feels pretty damn great."
