Tara Palmer-Tomkinson died of natural causes, her sister confirmed on Wednesday. Taking to her Twitter page, novelist Santa Montefiore revealed the late socialite's death was caused by a perforated ulcer and that she did not die from a brain tumour. Thanking fans for their support over the past few days, Santa said: "I've been so touched by the warm response to Tara's death. Thank you from the whole family. But I'd like to clarify a couple of points. Today the Coroner's report states that Tara died of natural causes – a perforated ulcer. She did not have a brain tumour."

"Contrary to some reports, Tara was not the goddaughter of HRH the Prince of Wales. Tara's good friends & family know that she was in high spirits in her last days," she added. "She had plans, trips & had written a moving new song. Lastly there will be a fuller statement from the PT family later today. Thank you again." Tara passed away at her London home aged 45, last Wednesday - just three months after she had revealed that she was battling a brain tumour. Shortly after the news broke, Santa shared a photo of the former IT Girl, in the caption she wrote: "My darling sister. I miss you." She accompanied it with a heartbroken emoji.
Tara's family also released a brief statement to confirm that the TV personality had passed away "peacefully in her sleep", and that they planned to hold a private funeral for her, while police stated that they are not treating the death as suspicious. Prince Charles, who was close friends with Tara, was among those to pay tribute to the late 45-year-old. In a statement released via Clarence House, he said: "We are deeply saddened and our thoughts are so much with the family."

Tara's death comes just three months after she revealed she was battling a brain tumour. She started receiving treatment for her condition in January 2016. Speaking to HELLO!, Tara also admitted that she had closed the door on her former partying lifestyle. "I have been very, very blessed to have done the BAFTAS, Oscars events and so on – so many of them in so many years. I appreciate and remember every one," she said. "However, now I am switches. I just like roast chicken with my mates around the kitchen table. Maybe that's a sign of my age. People come to my house now. I don't like to look too much into things. Hey, after the rain there's always sunshine!"
