Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom’s love story is over. The couple’s representatives released statements on Tuesday confirming the end of their romance in a bid to prevent exaggerated rumours from flying around the internet. "Before rumours or falsifications get out of hand we can confirm that Orlando and Katy are taking respectful, loving space at this time," the statement read. Katy, 32, and her 40-year-old former beau were last photographed together at Sunday night’s Vanity Fair Oscar party.

The separation comes after a year-long relationship which saw the duo hit the headlines on numerous occasions. Earlier this year the I Kissed a Girl singer surprised her boyfriend with a star-studded 40th birthday party, organising a surprise bash for dad-of-one Orlando in Palm Springs. Sharing an Instagram Story video on her page, Orlando could be seen surrounded by his loved ones, blowing out several candles on an elaborate cake with a huge owl on it. The singer even managed to get Orlando's mother Sonia to fly over for the festivities. The British actor later took to his social media sites to share a picture of himself with his mother. In the caption, he gushed: "best gift ever surprise visit from me mum."
Orlando Bloom went solo to the Independent Spirit Awards
According to witnesses at the Vanity Fair party this weekend, although the pair arrived together, they didn’t spend much time in each other’s company. “Katy didn’t spend much time with Orlando,” an onlooker told People magazine. “They got together for a photo, but that was about it.” The day before, Orlando was spotted at the Film Independent Spirit Awards, but on this occasion he was solo.
