George Michael's former boyfriend Kenny Goss claims the late singer's body "just gave up" when he died on Christmas Day. The 58-year-old, who dated the Wham! star from 1996 until 2001, has revealed he has been supporting George's family during this difficult time as the loved ones continue to wait for his body to be released. "I can't say for sure but I think his body just gave up. All these years, it was just weak," he told the Sunday Mirror.
Despite parting ways six years ago, Kenny confessed that he and George were in constant contact before his untimely death last year. "I was speaking to him all the time on the phone," he added. "He was in good spirits. I'll be there for the funeral. We just want closure, we want the funeral to happen, it's been a long time now." Police are currently investigating George's death after the post mortem results proved inconclusive, while further toxicology tests are being done to determine the star's cause of death.

Earlier this year, Kenny spoke of his heartache following George's death. Speaking to the Dallas Morning News, the American admitted he was "in a zone" when he received a phone call from the star’s sister Melanie on 25 December to inform him of George's passing. "We just had a really good, sweet relationship," he said of their romance. "We weren't even mad at each other or anything like that." He added: "He was truly the love of my life. And I think I was the love of his life." Kenny also revealed that said he still listens to his all-time favourite A Different Corner to comfort himself, and admitted he will never be able to fill the void the singer has left. He went on to claim that he believes George will live on thanks to his incredible generosity.
