Ryan Gosling has a German double – who just so happened to go and pick up his award on at The Goldene Kamera awards in Hamburg on Saturday. The annual German film and television award ceremony saw the likes of Nicole Kidman, Jane Fonda and Colin Farrell in attendance, but there was no sign of the real Ryan. Instead, comedians Joko Wintersheidt and Klass Heufer-Umlauf decided to plan the ultimate prank, setting up a fake agency and telling the organisers that they could get the La La Land star to appear at the ceremony on the condition that he received an award. Host Steven Gaetjen introduced ‘one of the hottest stars in Hollywood….the one and only, Ryan Gosling’ to the A-list audience, only for lookalike, Ludwig Lehner, a cook and amateur comedian from Munich, to appear in his place.

“Good evening, I am Ryan Gosling”, announced the fake Ryan, in a strong German accent, adding: “I dedicate this award to Joko and Klass, thank you very much. There is a saying in Hamburg, which is, 'bye, bye!'" The incident resulted in the host having to explain to a bewildered crowd that there had been a mix up.

Colin Farrell looked on in shock

Meanwhile, the real Ryan Gosling has had his fair share of real life appearances at awards shows of late, with La La Land triumphing at the Golden Globes, Oscars and BAFTAs, to name but a few. The star has given some memorable speeches over the last few months, in particular at the Golden Globes, when he dedicated his first award for Best Performance by an Actor in a Musical or Comedy to his wife Eva Mendes’s late brother Carlos - resulting in some very misty eyes at the Beverly Hills Hotel.

After thanking the movie's director Damian Chazelle and leading lady Emma Stone, the Canadian star said of Eva: "While I was singing and dancing and having one of the best experience of my life, my lady was raising our daughter, pregnant with our other all while her brother was battling cancer," he said while almost tearing up. "If she hadn’t taken all of that on so that I could have this experience, it surely would be somebody else up here today. So sweetheart, thank you."
