Sir Bruce Forsyth is nearly back to his old self after his recent health scare, according to his close friend of 50 years, Jimmy Tarbuck. Speaking in The Mirror this weekend, comedian Jimmy revealed he visited old friend Bruce and wife Wilnelia at the star’s Wentworth mansion this week: “It was just good to see him,’ said Jimmy, 77. “Wilnelia made some sandwiches and a nice pot of tea and we just reminisced and blethered and laughed. He’s getting there.”

Ex-Strictly host Sir Bruce, 89, has been recovering at home after spending five days in intensive care earlier this month for a severe chest infection. Fans were worried when he was rushed to hospital for treatment. The much-loved entertainer has had a tough time health-wise after a recent fall and suffering two aneurysms, with surgery back in 2015. Jimmy added, “He had a fall and a fall doesn’t do you any good at any age, but he’s at an age where it took a bit out of him.” The pair first met over 50 years ago when Jimmy hosted Sunday Night at the London Palladium after Sir Bruce’s stint.

Sir Bruce’s daughter Julie appeared on This Morning recently and told host Phillip Schofield: “He’s good. He’s watching… It’s been a rough year but he’s doing fantastic. We’ve all been together. He’s a wonderful father and I’m very proud of him.” Sir Bruce’s wife Wilnelia has also appeared on the show since his health scare. She said of her husband’s recovery: "He is wonderful. He is really wonderful. Especially the last couple of weeks, he's been really, really good and I wanted to take this opportunity to say to the people 'thank you'. "We've had so many wonderful letters and phone calls and good wishes for him and I do believe in all this energy and positive thinking… and he's doing really really well.” She continued: "I don't expect him to go tap dancing… but he loves the show business and I'm sure with a little bit of luck, he should be back."
