Lord Alan Sugar has donated £5,000 to Comic Relief to keep Piers Morgan quiet for a whole day, joking that it was the "bargain of the century". The businessman posted a video in which he pledged the money, saying: "Five grand to silence Piers Morgan for a whole day on Twitter? That's a bargain! The bargain of the century. Comic Relief, send me the bill straight away, I'll pay it immediately. It's going to be a wonderful day without that nutter clogging up the whole of Twitter with his nonsense."

Piers will stay silent for a day for charity
Holly Willoughby also donated £1,000 to the cause, which, should it reach £50,000, will also see Piers don a Spurs shirt. The TV presenter's Just Giving page reads: "So, it's the moment everyone has been waiting for… In support of Red Nose Day, I have begrudgingly agreed to stop tweeting, writing, broadcasting and just generally running off at the mouth for 24 whole hours. As you can imagine, this doesn't come naturally and I anticipate some relentless taunting (I'm looking at you, Gary Lineker…). I've agreed to be shut up to an even greater degree... by wearing a Spurs shirt. That is if the British public raises £50,000. So if you would like to see my suffer a great humiliation for a great cause, sponsor me now."
