Benedict Cumberbatch are proud parents to Christopher and new baby Hal, according to reports

Sherlock star Benedict, 40, has previously said about becoming a father: "Having a baby – it's massive. And on a very unexpected level. Suddenly I understood my parents much more proudly than I ever had before." He has also spoken before about introducing his children to his acting work: “Of course, of course. I want them to know what I do for a living and they can’t always because of the certification of my films, we’ll all be a lot older by the time they get to see them. I would definitely like to do some child-friendly work in the future, I’ve done a bit but there might be a bit more of that.”

Benedict is set to return to the BBC to produce and star in a 90-minute television adaptation of Ian McEwan's novel The Child in Time. The 40-year-old plays a children's author named Stephen Lewis who deals with the death of his daughter, Kate. Speaking about the role, Benedict said: "I read the novel years ago and it stayed with me — profound, beautiful, and very moving. Only Ian McEwan could write about loss with such telling honesty."
