Emmy Rossum's West Los Angeles home was burglarized while she was travelling to New York City last week. An estimated $150,000 in antique jewellery and other items were stolen from two safes inside the home. Emmy's housekeeper first discovered the burglary when she noticed the glass window in the back door was completely smashed and the house's power was out. Early reports on Tuesday morning state that thieves had no problem accessing the safes, given that the combinations were written on notes close by.
According to TMZ, law enforcement believe that the culprits cut off the power to deactivate the alarm system. The Shameless star is the latest target in a string of recent celebrity burglaries. Other A-list celebrity victims include Alanis Morrissette, Jaime Pressly, Kendall Jenner, Kevin Hart and Nick Young. The 30-year-old actress took to Twitter to thank the Los Angeles police department for its tireless efforts to find those responsible for the crime.
This latest break-in signals another wave of high-profile burglaries in the Hollywood Hills. Back in 2008, the homes of Lindsay Lohan, Rachel Bilson, Orlando Bloom and Paris Hilton were all robbed by the now infamous Bling Ring - a group of teenagers who had expensive tastes and sticky fingers. Their crimes were explored in the 2013 film The Bling Ring, starring Emma Watson.
