One Direction fans prepare yourselves - Harry Styles is making his solo debut on the Apr. 15 episode of Saturday Night Live. NBC sent Twitter into a frenzy when they made the announcement on the social platform on Tuesday. Harry will join previously announced host Jimmy Fallon on the hotly-anticipated episode.
The news comes days after a video teaser aired in the U.K that showed Harry opening a door as uplifting piano music played in the background. The video concludes with the words, "April 7," a possible hint that the former One Direction member would be premiering his first solo track on that day.
While Harry has previously performed on SNL alongside his 1D bandmates in 2012, 2013, and 2014, Hollywood Life reports that The Tonight Show host wants Harry to do more than just carry a tune. "Jimmy wants Harry to be a part of the show when he hosts SNL, he doesn’t want Harry just to sing. He wants Harry in a skit or two and he is very eager to grab his ear and give him some fun ideas," says a source.
Sounds like the 23-year-old singer is set to follow in the footsteps of Justin Timberlake, who as a solo artist showcased his comedic skills on the late-night comedy show back when Jimmy was a regular cast member. We’re sure former band members Zayn Malik, Niall Horan and Louis Tomlinson will cheer him on as they all have released solo music, while Liam Payne has taken a break from music to concentrate on being a father to his newborn son.
