There's no denying Selena Gomez is happy these days. The 24-year-old candidly opened up to Entertainment Tonight at the Los Angeles premiere of Netflix's 13 Reasons Why about doing what she loves with people that she cares deeply about. She said, "I feel like you could be able to see in my face. I love what I'm doing right now. I'm enjoying my life, and I'm getting to do things that I'm passionate about with the people that I love."

Selena's new Netflix project, which she executive produced with her mother Mandy Teefay, follows a teen boy named Dylan who tries to find answers after his friend Hannah commits suicide. The Same Old Love singer admitted that the series hits close to home for her. She shared, "I think people are really scared to be honest with themselves and strength is looked upon as, 'Oh I'm strong, I don't need anything, I can handle everything,' and that's just not the truth."

After spending 90 days in a treatment facility in Tennessee last year to help her deal with depression and anxiety as a result of her lupus, Selena said that the show is a voice for those who need to be heard. "I think kids especially, with social media sometimes, they just feel a little claustrophobic, and I don't think their voice is actually being heard," The Weeknd’s girlfriend shared. "I want people to know that every single life is valuable, that their voice can be heard, and that there are people who are willing to be there for them."

Selena, who recently spent some time in South America with her musician beau, celebrated the show’s release via Instagram on Thursday night. “Our show @13reasonswhy came out tonight and I couldn't be more overwhelmed with pride and joy,” she captioned a photo of herself with the members of the cast. “After 7 years of holding onto this book, I couldn't of picked a better time for this message to exist. Jay Asher wrote a beautifully tragic, compelling story and we were lucky to have brought it to life. Thank you to every single soul that put their heart into this passion project.”

13 Reasons Why is now streaming on Netflix.
