TV chef John Torode has appeared to rubbish claims which suggest he has never been friends with his MasterChef co-host Gregg Wallace. Taking to his Twitter page on Monday, the 51-year-old shared a picture of himself with his on-screen partner alongside the caption: "A lovely day spent with the wonderful @GreggAWallace." The post comes soon after John reportedly hinted to the Mirror how the pair have a turbulent friendship - despite acting as Gregg's best man at his wedding to Anne-Marie Sterpini last year.

"It's funny, we've never been friends," he allegedly told the publication. "We've not been to each other’s houses. He's so OCD, he wouldn’t know what to do. If we go away to somewhere like South Africa, we do things separately. If we do go out for a drink, I'll invariably be at one end of a big old table and he'll be at the other." Last week, Gregg, 52, had nothing but nice things to say about their budding bromance.

"I have a very close relationship with John," he said on Lorraine, adding that he would call John for support during his stint on Strictly Come Dancing in 2014. "I didn't particularly enjoy Strictly - I phoned John in tears and said I was having a tough time." He added: "People don't realise how close we are - he was my best man - he's close to me 7/8 months of the year. What's great about the partnership is that if one of us is down the other perks us up."

When Gregg married fourth wife Anne-Marie at Hever Castle in Kent, the TV star opened up to HELLO! about why he picked John to be his best man. He explained: "There is no part of my life John isn't aware of. He's seen me through the good, the bad and the ugly and has always been there for me, so it was a very easy choice to make."
