Harry Styles has released his debut solo single, Sign of the Times. The power ballad was played for the first time on BBC Radio 1 on Friday, and fans were quick to praise the single, with many comparing the 23-year-old to David Bowie. One fan wrote: "I just died, got reborn, died again, went to heaven, and got reborn again. Thanks Harry Styles." Another added: "Harry Styles is bringing back classic rock vibes and it's gonna catch on. This song is gonna change today's music taste. trust. #SignOfTheTimes."

The One Direction band member tweeted to thank fans for their support, writing: "Thanks for having me. Love you. H." The song, which was written by Harry, includes the lyrics: "Just stop your crying, it's a sign of the times/ Welcome to the final show, hope you're wearing your best clothes." Harry opened up about his new single on the Radio 1 Breakfast Show on Thursday, explaining: "We just wanted to make what we wanted to listen to and that has been the most fun part for me about making the whole album. In the least weird way possible, it's my favourite album to listen to at the moment… I hope we did a good job but I really like the album so I hope people like it."

Harry debuted his solo single
He continued: "It's a bit weird, I feel like I've been hibernating for so long now and you hear it in the safety of the studio and now it's time to give birth… It's the song I'm most proud of writing." Harry will perform his single for the first time while hosting SNL on 15 April. The live sketch show shared the news with fans, writing: "Excited to announce @jimmyfallon and @Harry_Styles will be in Studio 8H on April 15! #FallonStylesSNL."
