Emma Stone has responded to a young man who invited her to be his prom date in an elaborate, La La Land-inspired video, set to the tune of the film's first song, Another Day of Sun. Although the Oscar-winning actress had to turn high school student Jacob down because she is currently filming in London, she sent him a letter thanking him for thinking of her and for "the greatest proposal I've ever received".

Jacob read out Emma's letter during an appearance on Good Morning America. "Jacob, thanks for making the greatest proposal I've ever received.," it read. "I can't tell you what an honour that was and how much I smiled through that entire beautifully orchestrated video. I'm in London working but I hope you have the best time at prom and I'm grateful you thought of me. Thank you." She then referenced his video where he hinted that he looked a little like her co-star Ryan Gosling, adding; "Ps, I do see Gosling around the eyes. Love Emma."

The teenager's song lyrics included: "People say I look like Ryan Gosling, and maybe that's a bit far-fetched… I know my voice ain't great. But please be my prom date!" The video quickly went viral, hitting nearly a million views on YouTube since it was posted last week. Jacob's new fans were quick to comfort him after Emma wasn't able to make the evening, with one writing: "I love this. It's too bad Emma Stone declined to go to prom with you. She should invite you to her next movie premiere!" Another added: "He's probably just going to ask somebody else. Because after this video, who WOULDN'T want to go to prom with this guy?"
